LGBTQ+ parents and carers zine

Ruth Naughton-Doe

I am delighted to share our digital zine documenting the stories and experiences of LGBTQ+ parents and carers and their children. The project idea came from community organisations supporting LGBTQ+ parents who contributed to the Perinatal Loneliness Project. LGBTQ+ parents and carers often feel alone and excluded, or like an object of interest, and can question whether they are welcome in spaces. We wanted to create a resource for LGBTQ+ parents and carers, or people thinking about becoming one. This is just the beginning of our journey in supporting LGBTQ+ parents and carers to feel less isolated. Inside the zine are details of organisations who support LGBTQ+ parents in the UK and some creative prompts for those wanting to have a go at creating a zine page. Thanks to our project partners, Lea Cooper for creating the beautiful zine, and extra special thanks to all those who contributed. Thanks also to the ESRC Festival of Social Science for funding this work. Copy of Digital LGBTQ Parent Zine (smaller file)Download
