New parents are at greater risk of feeling lonely โ and we're doing something about it.
I'm thrilled to share that we've received additional funding from the NIHR Three Schools Mental Health Programme to grow the impact of the Perinatal Loneliness Project. Our aim? To ensure that more parents, professionals, and policymakers hear โ and act on โ what our research is telling us.
Starting today, our next phase will:
๐น Co-create booklets for both parents and professionals โ to help identify loneliness early and encourage people to seek support
๐น Produce targeted policy briefs, including one focused on improving support for fathers, and another calling for broader investment in services and infrastructure for parents
๐น Rebrand the project to make it more accessible, engaging, and parent-centred (new name and website coming soon!)
๐น Deliver a national campaign of webinars and events to share these resources far and wide
I'm so excited to be collaborating with an incredible team:Anna Tarrant,Manuela Barreto,Amy Jenkin,Amy Chidley,Nicki Pierce, Nicola Merrett, Matt Pontacole,Alex Paterson,LGBT Mummies, and theNational Children's Bureau.
Thank you to NIHR Three Schools Mental Health Programme (NIHR School for Primary Care Research) for believing in this work and funding this next step.
Let's build the village that new parents deserve ๐งก
